P for Product Range: What Vitamin P will be bringing to the PDC
Just four more sleeps until the Print Digital Convention 2026, and we can now say with confidence that, as far as we’re concerned, all our products are fully ready for the trade fair. Yeah! It’s been an exciting challenge, as the various products are, of course, designed to showcase everyone involved — their machines, software and capabilities — in the best possible light. With some products, we’re demonstrating the speed with which data is personalised and then produced in a flash. With others, the focus is on finishing, post-processing and/or brilliant print quality. Behind the scenes, all of this is supported by software for efficient customisation, workflow automation to ensure smooth processes within a print shop, and solutions for business management processes.
Our Team P — as word has probably got around by now — comprises eight companies from the printing industry. Alongside dmsDIGITAL, Fiery, FKS, Impressed, ITA Systeme, Konica Minolta and Obility, which represent the technical aspects of our synergy, WirbelWild provides the creative impetus, ensuring that our expertise in automation and customisation is not overlooked. You can see who was involved in which product on each product. And because Obility is somewhat overlooked in the descriptions below, we’d like to mention here in advance that Obility will be providing an insight into the calculations behind all products at the trade fair.
Right, let's get started:
Workflow leaflet in banner format with tear-off vouchers
The focus of our exhibition stand and team is on networking and seamless workflows. The banner format — we print on the Konica Minolta AccurioPress C5080 and finish on the Konica Minolta AccurioShine 3600 in 320 × 630 mm format — provides enough space to illustrate the processes for all the products on display at the trade fair. Finishing is carried out on the FKS/Duplo DocuCutter DC-648, which perforates the leaflet — for tear-off vouchers from the participating companies — folds it and trims it to the correct size for the borderless design.
To ensure that the print image and the finishing process align correctly, Impressed applies video markers to the print sheet, which are printed by the Accurio Press and read by the AccurioShine. Additional markers applied by Impressed link the printed flyer with the perforation, folding and cutting instructions stored in the DocuCutter.
Special materials for magnets and stickers
A playful interpretation of our vibrant design has found its home on two special materials: we print removable stickers on the matt adhesive film “Xerox Premium Nevertear”, and magnets on the magnetic film “Image Magnet”; both products, like all the papers used, were provided by Antalis. Both materials are printed on the Fujifilm Revoria Press EC2100S, which uses 5-colour printing to reproduce the PANTONE colours contained in the design: Bright Red C, 1777 C, 137 C, 172 C, 178 C, 239 C and 1585 C.
The magnet and sticker sheets are available in two versions and can each be personalised via Obility’s Web2Print shop.
To ensure the print image and cutting file are perfectly synchronised for cutting the magnets or performing a kiss-cut for the stickers, Fiery applies marks and QR codes to the print sheet, which are printed onto the sheet and read by the dmsDIGITAL Sinajet DF1007-MT Plus.
Packaging options with windows
Visitors to our stand can enjoy this vitamin boost not just in a figurative sense, but also to try for themselves. Our two giveaways come in two different packaging options:
The larger bottle is housed in a folding box printed in vibrant colours and finished with UV varnish; its grapefruit-shaped window on the front offers a first glimpse of the contents. Both the UV varnish and the cutting and creasing are carried out on the dmsDIGITAL Sinajet DF1007-MT Plus. The paper used here is white Invercote G, 260 g/m².
A variation of the folding box was designed for the smaller bottle: black and red printing on coloured paper, specifically Olin Colours Baby Blush at 240 g/m². The print motif is based on the same photograph, featuring a grapefruit, which has been halftoned and rendered in a single colour to match the corporate design. The window here is designed as a corner-to-corner variant.
Here too, Fiery is used to apply marks and QR codes to the printed sheet, which are then read by the dmsDIGITAL Sinajet DF1007-MT Plus.
Personalised mailings
All stand visitors will receive a live personalised mailing containing eight cover letters from all companies participating in Vitamin P. The mailing is personalised — with the recipient’s name and address — using JobFlow Pro from Fiery; the data for this does not need to be entered into a form field, but is provided via the FMP visitor database. A person’s data record is accessed via the personal QR code on their exhibition ticket. Rapid production is made possible by the Kyocera TASKalfa Pro 15000c, which can print up to 150 A4 pages per minute.
Double-sided leaflet with a colour gradient in PANTONE colours
Here, too, we have a clever reversible leaflet, half of which contains jokes and wordplay, and the other half puzzles and brain-teasers. A product that’s fun — even on the outside. It was printed on the Fujifilm Revoria Press EC2100S, which also produced the PANTONE colours 239 C, 1777 C and 172 C — as a colour gradient. Post-processing, including trimming, was carried out by the FKS/Duplo Digital System 7000 Pro, which unfortunately was not allowed to be taken to the trade fair. Perhaps next time. Anyone wishing to see the PANTONE-coloured gradient printed live should keep an eye out for when the accompanying postcard is produced.
A trade fair classic: P for the postcard series
The products mentioned above are by no means the only possibilities offered by the machines on display. To demonstrate a wider range of options in real time, we will be producing various postcards on site throughout the day. These will showcase special print finishes and enhancements such as spot varnish and hot foil stamping using copper and hologram foil. During post-press processing, embossed effects will be created, cut-outs will be made in the paper, and corners will be rounded.
The papers used are Novatech Digital Gloss, Olin Rough and — representative of Antalis’s premium papers — the textured Keaykolour in kiwi, a colour that matches our vitamins.
Last but not least: high-speed production of customised team brochures
Last but not least, we produce a just-in-time personalised brochure at the exhibition stand, in which the Team P introduces itself: informative, clear, personal — the team “to go”. Personalisation takes place on-site using our WirbelWild software, ManyPrint Solutions. The data for the brochure is also accessed here via the QR code on the exhibition badges and fed into the fully automated workflow as a trigger for customisation. Within seconds, the print-ready file is ready and is, in turn, transferred fully automatically to production, where the Kyocera TASKalfa Pro 15000c machine prints, folds and staples a brochure on two different types of paper at high speed, and it is finished before anyone has even gone through the process from data entry to the output of the finished product. Just how seamlessly ManyPrint Solutions can be integrated is demonstrated by the fact that data is initially imported from third-party providers, which is then used in the brochure. On the other hand, the integration is also evident in the transfer of print data, which is seamlessly passed on to Obility and, thanks to its metadata, can be assigned to and processed for the jobs stored there. But that is another chapter in our journey to PDC, which we will tell you about before the trade fair begins. We promise.
Finally, we would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Antalis, who are not part of Vitamin P, but who provided us with detailed advice on the right papers and films and supplied all the materials we needed for the trade fair. Thank you very much!
